    Mushi-shi
An anime with heavy folklore influences exploring the world of ‘mushi’ and their effects on their environment.
Incredible soundtrack, scenic backdrops and a hugely interesting plot. Relaxing to watch, great for rainy days.

    Hyouka
A slice-of-life anime following the like of Oreki Houtaru, a self-proclaimed ‘energy conservationist’ (he’s lazy) – Oreki is forced to join a club, and as the events of the show unfold, it becomes very apparent that he is great at solving mysteries. This anime has a unique style and a lot of cute moments, along with many thought-provoking scenarios. Good for easy watching.

    Erased
This is the story of a missing-persons mystery played through the eyes of someone who is thrust through time to save others.
Hugely emotional, a gripping thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat with anticipation until the very end. The character growth and bonds developed in this anime are very moving and I would recommend watching with a friend so you can take bets on the grand finale!

    Zankyou no Terror
Two young males wreak havoc in the city of Tokyo, playing a dangerous game with the police – using riddles and home-made explosives to draw attention to a more sinister reality. Lots of plot twists and turns that will keep you entertained and attached as the show progresses. Dark, action-packed and thought provoking… can you predict the direction of the series before you finish? Let me know!

    Puella Magi Madoka Magica
This is a thriller. It’s cute on the outside. The level of animation detail and unique style in this anime is beyond amazing. No other anime has elicited such an emotional response from me in my years of watching – prepare for one of the best anime you have ever seen. Bring popcorn, a friend and a blanket and be entertained, intrigued, shocked and thrilled all at the same time as this anime grips you from start until finish.

    Tokyo Ghoul
This anime has so many brilliantly developed ideas that you will begin to question your own humanity as you continue watching. Moral dilemmas are aplenty, and the level of strong emotion poured into every scene makes this anime an absolute masterpiece. The story follows Kaneki Ken, who inadvertently finds himself torn between the world of Humans and Ghouls. The gut wrenching situations portrayed in the anime are almost too real, with animation, plot, symbolism, music and voice-acting blending brilliantly together to convey one of the best anime I have ever seen.

    Under the Dog (movie)

    Your Name (movie)

    The Garden of Words (movie)

    Ao no Exorcist

    Full Metal Alchemist

Kyoukai no Kanata (WATCH THIS FIRST)

    Mob Psycho 100

    One Punch Man

    Psycho-Pass

I will continue to add descriptions to this list as I find the time! Feel free to discuss your own recommendations too – I have one request, however: I would like you to recommend anime that don’t require fanservice to make up for poor plot ๐Ÿ˜›
